  • The Smartrack S5 insurance approved tracker has been tested and categorised to TQA standards, with a 24/7 monitoring service.
  • The new Smartrack S5 Thatcham tracker operates using GPS and GLONASS satellite networks and maximizes GPRS and GSM technology to ensure that this S5 tracking device is the most comprehensive theft recovery device now available.
  • Updated new Bluetooth ADR (Automatic Driver Recognition) cards. Your D-iDT Bluetooth Driver Detection Card protects you against key theft, cloning, and unauthorised keyless entry (such as Relay Attack).
  • The S5 tracking device is the upgraded version of the CAT 5 Thatcham tracker and features an advanced in-built battery back up system. This means that your S5 Tracker will still remain operating even if your vehicle’s power supply is removed.
  • Your S5 tracking device has the option of the Remote Immobilisation feature. You can select this in the drop-down above when adding to basket. Remote immobilisation allows the control room to immobilise your vehicle in the event of a theft. PLEASE NOTE: the immobilisation system is not a standard requirement in order for you to receive your S5 completion certificate. it is just an additional security feature that you can opt for. You will also be issued with a CAT 5 completion certificate.
 

Automatic Driver Recognition System

  • All Smartrack S5 Thatcham approved Trackers come with ADR (Automatic Driver Recognition) as standard. This particular version uses a credit card-sized driver tag. This means that you can keep it with you in your wallet or pocket with the minimal fuss or extra effort.
  • ADR is an incredibly effective system offering protection against key theft, key cloning and keyless entry/theft.
  • As an authorised driver of your vehicle, you will have an ‘ADR Proximity Fob’. You keep this with you whenever you use your vehicle. Your ADR system automatically recognises your card when you enter your vehicle. You do not need to touch it against a touchpad, or deactivate anything. Just get in your car and drive!
  • If someone tries to enter and start your vehicle without the ADR card, an alert is triggered immediately in the 24/7 control centre- even if the thief has stolen your keys!
  • The S5 car tracker is covertly installed by our Thatcham certified engineers.
  • Our extensive team of engineers covers every UK mainland postcode and we will typically be able to provide your full installation within 1-3 working days.

WHAT IS A THATCHAM APPROVED TRACKER?

The Motor Repair Research Centre (based in Thatcham) are leaders in testing and classifying security and safety systems for vehicles. They have been testing, approving and categorising car trackers for 25 years. When you hear that a vehicle tracker is Thatcham approved it means that the trackers has passed their thorough, watertight testing process.

HOW DOES MY CAR INSURANCE TRACKER PROTECT MY VEHICLE?

Your Trackershop car insurance tracker uses a combination of the latest global positioning, mobile phone and motion sensing technology available. Your tracking device is installed covertly by thatcham approved fitters, using the latest fitting techniques that will deter and prevent theft. In the event of a theft: Your insurance tracker’s motion sensor detects illegal movement (e.g. if the vehicle moves when the ignition is switched off), and sends an alert to the 24 hour control centre. They will then contact you to confirm the unauthorised use. You can also alert the control centre directly yourself. Once theft is confirmed recovery of your vehicle will be actioned immediately.

WHEN DO I PAY FOR THE SUBSCRIPTION?

For your car insurance to be valid, all Thatcham trackers need to be fitted by a Thatcham trained engineer. The good news is the cost of fitting is included in the price of the device- so there is no additional charge for fitting, and you can rest assured knowing that your car tracker is fitted to the highest standard.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH CAR INSURANCE TRACKER IS CORRECT FOR ME?

It’s likely your insurance company will have advised you on the insurance tracker that you need. The type that you need will depend on the make, model and age of the vehicle. Other factors such as location of the vehicle may have an impact.

I KNOW WHICH TRACKER I NEED. HOW DO I ARRANGE GETTING IT FITTED?

Once your insurance company has confirmed which type of car tracker you need (Cat 5 or Cat 6), you can either go to Car Insurance Trackers and select the one that you need, or call us to order over the phone. Once your order is complete our installation company will be in contact to arrange an appointment to fit your tracking device at a time, date and location convenient to you. Fitting is quick and simple. Once installed we will then arrange the subscription with you.

WHY DO I NEED A THATCHAM APPROVED CAR TRACKER?

It may be that your insurance company has either advised (or insisted) that you have a Thatcham approved tracker installed. The good news is that it now couldn’t be quicker and easier to have your thatcham tracker installed and protecting your car. All you need to do is select the car tracker that you need. Once purchased our Thatcham approved mobile fitters will contact you to book your fitting at a time, date and location that is convenient to you. We cover every postcode in the UK, so it doesn’t matter if you need your tracker fitted at home,work or anywhere else, we will come to you! You do not need to be present for the fitting, as long as there is someone present with access to the car.

DO I GET A CERTIFICATE TO PROVIDE TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY?

Yes, once the tracker has been fitted you will be sent a Certificate OF authenticity via email that you can supply to your insurance company.

What is an 'ADR system or ADR Tracker?

Your insurance provider may use the terms ADR tracker or ADR system in their proviso. ADR stands for Automatic Driver Recognition and is the main feature of this S5 tracking device. Therefore this S5 tracker will be more than suitable for what your insurance provider is stipulating.

What if I forget my ADR card when driving?

Many people initially assume that their ADR system immobilises their vehicle if they do not have their driver card. This is not the case, and you can still driver your vehicle if you do not have your card. An instant alert will be raised in the control room, and they will immediately make contact with you to confirm the status of the vehicle. If you WOULD like an immobilisation feature, then you can select this from the dropdown above when purchasing.

When do I set up my subscription?

After your engineer has installed your tracking device you will be contacted by the Smartrack Global Telemetrics control room. They will set up your subscription, then forward your completion certificate and app login details. This takes just a few minutes.

What happens if my vehicle is stolen?

If your vehicle is moved without the ADR Card present, the Control Centre will contact you to confirm the status of your vehicle. If your vehicle has been stolen, you will need to report this to the police immediately to obtain a crime reference number. From here you can call the Control Room on 0808 1684 999 from the UK or if you are abroad +44 (0) 1530 275 920. They will track your vehicle, guiding the responding police unit to the location. They will also deploy a recovery team.

How many ADR cards do I receive and can I get more?

Your Smartrack S5 vehicle tracker is provided with 1 driver card as standard. You can purchase more at any time. Just give us a call and we can assist you with this.

Is the S5 vehicle tracker an immobiliser?

The standard S5 vehicle tracker does not feature immobilisation. However, you can opt for the additional immobilisation feature in the dropdown above. Alternatively, we have an S5 Plus category for S5 Trackers with immobilisation.

What happens if my cards run out of battery?

Your ADR system cards are fully rechargeable and should last several months on a single charge. You are provided with the charger for your cards.
