The Smartrack S5 D-ID System is the new revolutionary way of using your mobile phone for driver identification. 

No need to carry the standard S5 ADR fobs, your D-iD phone app acts as your Driver Recognition System instead.

As well as the standard S5 tracker specifications, your tracking system is linked directly to your phone to identify you remotely as the authorised driver of your vehicle. This protects you against all of the current methods of theft such as key theft and relay crime. 
Your D-ID app system acts as an effective and convenient alternative to carrying Driver ID fobs for all authorised drivers.
  • The Smartrack S5 insurance-approved tracker has recently been tested and categorised to TQA standards, with a 24/7 monitoring service.
  • The new Smartrack S5 Thatcham tracker operates using GPS and GLONASS satellite networks and maximises GPRS and GSM technology to ensure that the S5 is the most comprehensive theft recovery device now available.
  • The S5 is the upgraded version of the CAT 5 Thatcham tracker and features an advanced in-built battery backup system. This means that your S5 Tracker will still remain operating even if your vehicle’s power supply is removed.
  • Your S5 tracking device has the option of the Remote Immobilisation feature. You can select this in the drop-down above when adding to the basket. Remote immobilisation allows the control room to immobilise your vehicle in the event of a theft. PLEASE NOTE: the immobilisation system is not a standard requirement in order for you to receive your S5 completion certificate. it is just an additional security feature that you can opt for. You will also be issued a CAT 5 completion certificate.
 

Driver Recognition System

  • All Smartrack S5 Thatcham-approved Trackers come with DRS (Driver Recognition System) as standard.
  • DRS is an incredibly effective system offering protection against key theft, key cloning, and keyless entry/theft.
  • All authorised drivers of your vehicle can download the app and log in with your private account details, allowing them to use the vehicle conveniently and without interrupting their normal driving behaviour. 
  • If someone tries to enter and start your vehicle without the app an alert is triggered immediately in the 24/7 control centre- even if the thief has stolen your keys!

WHAT IS A THATCHAM APPROVED TRACKER?

The Motor Repair Research Centre (based in Thatcham) are leaders in testing and classifying security and safety systems for vehicles. They have been testing, approving and categorising car trackers for 25 years. When you hear that a vehicle tracker is Thatcham approved it means that the trackers has passed their thorough, watertight testing process.

HOW DOES MY CAR INSURANCE TRACKER PROTECT MY VEHICLE?

Your Trackershop car insurance tracker uses a combination of the latest global positioning, mobile phone and motion sensing technology available. Your tracking device is installed covertly by thatcham approved fitters, using the latest fitting techniques that will deter and prevent theft. In the event of a theft: Your insurance tracker’s motion sensor detects illegal movement (e.g. if the vehicle moves when the ignition is switched off), and sends an alert to the 24 hour control centre. They will then contact you to confirm the unauthorised use. You can also alert the control centre directly yourself. Once theft is confirmed recovery of your vehicle will be actioned immediately.

WHEN DO I PAY FOR THE SUBSCRIPTION?

For your car insurance to be valid, all Thatcham trackers need to be fitted by a Thatcham trained engineer. The good news is the cost of fitting is included in the price of the device- so there is no additional charge for fitting, and you can rest assured knowing that your car tracker is fitted to the highest standard.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH CAR INSURANCE TRACKER IS CORRECT FOR ME?

It’s likely your insurance company will have advised you on the insurance tracker that you need. The type that you need will depend on the make, model and age of the vehicle. Other factors such as location of the vehicle may have an impact.

I KNOW WHICH TRACKER I NEED. HOW DO I ARRANGE GETTING IT FITTED?

Once your insurance company has confirmed which type of car tracker you need (Cat 5 or Cat 6), you can either go to Car Insurance Trackers and select the one that you need, or call us to order over the phone. Once your order is complete our installation company will be in contact to arrange an appointment to fit your tracking device at a time, date and location convenient to you. Fitting is quick and simple. Once installed we will then arrange the subscription with you.

WHY DO I NEED A THATCHAM APPROVED CAR TRACKER?

It may be that your insurance company has either advised (or insisted) that you have a Thatcham approved tracker installed. The good news is that it now couldn’t be quicker and easier to have your thatcham tracker installed and protecting your car. All you need to do is select the car tracker that you need. Once purchased our Thatcham approved mobile fitters will contact you to book your fitting at a time, date and location that is convenient to you. We cover every postcode in the UK, so it doesn’t matter if you need your tracker fitted at home,work or anywhere else, we will come to you! You do not need to be present for the fitting, as long as there is someone present with access to the car.

DO I GET A CERTIFICATE TO PROVIDE TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY?

Yes, once the tracker has been fitted you will be sent a Certificate OF authenticity via email that you can supply to your insurance company.

Is the D-iD the best car tracker with an app?

The Smartrack D-iD S5 vehicle tracker has been introduced with a revolutionary app ADR (Automatic Driver Recognition) feature. This is for customers who would prefer to use their phone as their Driver Recognition System device, as opposed to carrying an additional fob. Your installed Driver Recognition System automatically acknowledges your phone app when you enter/leave the vehicle, recognising you as the authorised driver. If anyone ever steals your vehicle, the ADR triggers an instant alert in the control room.

Is the Smartrack S5 vehicle tracker also an immobiliser?

You can upgrade the Smartrack S5 vehicle tracker to also feature remote immobilisation. The S5 tracker category does not require immobilisation, so this is just an added feature for your own peace of mind. Simply select Remote Immobilisation in the dropdown box at the top of the product page.

What if I forget my mobile phone or run out of battery when driving?

You can still drive your vehicle. An alert will be triggered directly to the Smartrack Global Telemetrics Control Room. They will attempt to contact you using all of the contact details provided. It is therefore advised to provide multiple contact numbers for yourself and any other named drivers.

Does the price include installation?

Can multiple phones log in to the app for my S5 Tracker?

Yes, they can. This can be requested by the main account holder, in writing by emailing [email protected]

When do I pay my subscription?

After your Trackershop engineer has installed and commissioned your vehicle tracking device, you will be contacted by the Smartrack Global Telemetrics control room to set up your subscription. This will only take a few minutes, and they will then forward your completion certificate and login details to your app.

What is an ADR tracker?

Instead of ' S5 tracker ' your insurance provider may instead use a term such as ' ADR Tracker ' , or ' Tracker with an ADR system '. ADR stands for Automatic Driver Recognition. This is the main feature of the S5 vehicle tracking device, so this product will be suitable for your insurance providers requirements.

Do I need to log in to my app each time I use my vehicle?

No, you won't need to do anything extra when using your vehicle. As long as you have your app open in the background of your phone, you can enter and leave your vehicle as normal - your ADR system will automatically read the app.
