For those of us who are fortunate to not have had our health directly impacted, there is now a strong desire to move forward into the future - albeit under safe, responsible, and controlled conditions. You might think, at a time that everyone should still be at home, car trackers wouldn’t be in particularly high demand.

Trackershop has found that due to a number of reasons relating to the current global pandemic, car tracker installations have been an essential service for many. We have already seen a significant increase in the amount of car tracker installations for insurance purposes. Although none of us can confidently predict the future at this stage, we anticipate this trend to continue.

Here’s what we project will be the immediate demand for car trackers in 2020 going ahead.

CAR TRACKER. INSTALLATIONS.

Some staggering figures have started to emerge from the lockdown period in relation to car sales for this period. Some more will become apparent over the next few weeks and months, however one of the most shocking so far is the percentage of new car sales for April 2020 compared to the same period last year. That figure is 3%! You read that correctly.

The number of new car sales is down 97%! This is the lowest figure since just after the second world war.

Of course, the reason for this is very easily explained, and is not a reflection of demand or the industry in general - but more a direct result of the restricted circumstances that we have all had to adhere to.

Prospective new car buyers haven’t been able to venture out, cars on order haven’t been able to be delivered, showrooms haven’t been able to open and/or take delivery and factories have had to cease production.

So what does this mean going forward?

There are already an insurmountable number of new vehicles in temporary storage facilities, which have entered the country but are yet to make it to their new owners.

Now that restrictions have loosened, individual new car owners will have to employ a level of patience whilst they await the delivery of their own vehicles.

This is because the sudden influx of collective deliveries and the release of vehicles is going to be significant, as dealerships work around the clock to clear the backlog.

Therefore, as new vehicles are delivered, and also new customers re-enter the marketplace for new and used vehicles in general, the demand for car insurance tracker installation is going to spike significantly.

Trackershop have already seen the start of this and are preparing for this to continue increasing significantly in demand. We, therefore, want to reassure everyone that we still have the largest mobile installation team in the UK, with the highest level of coverage for every postcode.

Our engineers will also be on the road for extended periods so that we can do all we can to uphold the quickest nationwide installation times for everyone in need.

INSTALLING CAR TRACKERS. FOR THEFT PREVENTION.

Overall we can all be very proud of how well we have handled the unfortunate global circumstances in recent months. Communities have rallied together and there is a real sense of positivity and cohesion emerging from these dark times. Unfortunately, there are always those who capitalise on opportunities at other people’s expense.

With this in mind, Trackershop would like to raise a car theft warning, due to an increase in stolen vehicle figures during lockdown.

A combination of both emerging opportunities and heightened desperation has meant that car thieves are getting away with more than normal at this time.

If you consider just one scenario where a motorist does not have off-road parking and may need to park in a neighbouring street.

If they are not using their vehicle regularly due to lockdown, it may be several days before they even notice that their vehicle is missing.

This gives thieves the gift of time they need to strip a vehicle down for parts or get it secured in a container ready to ship out the country.

If you do not have a car tracker fitted, then do ensure you visually check your vehicle (at least twice a day), as well as double-checking the doors are locked.

Keep your keys away from your front door or, even better, in a faraday pouch in order to avoid relay attack.

As a comprehensive solution, consider what many savvy motorists have been doing at this time, and installing an insurance approved car tracker.

The Meta S5 Deadlock is both an insurance approved S5 tracker AND immobiliser.  This means that, even if a group of thieves were able to unlock your vehicle, they wouldn’t be able to start the ignition!

Even after restrictions are loosened, we will still have some turbulent times ahead as we rebuild. If you have a vehicle then it’s likely that you need it for work and to run your household in general. Make sure that you keep yours safe and secure, so that vehicle theft does not add to, what are project to be, a tumultuous few months ahead.
