TrackerShop has been providing trackers for Drones all this year, and now that Drones are expected to be this year's top Christmas present request, it looks like there will be a huge increase in UAV's in our airways from late December.

Thousands of kids (and thousands of more adults) will be awaking Christmas morning to find they were clearly on Santa's Nice List, and have received exactly what they wanted. The latest craze, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, commonly known as Drones.

Much like the iPad, and even GPS tracking itself, the emergence of the Drone for mainstream consumer use is proving to be one of those leaps in modern technology that instantly improves day to day living.

And again, it's not until the product is used on a larger scale, that the limitless uses begin to become clear.

From hurricane hunting, courier services, search and rescue, (even dropping off dry cleaning) broader uses are emerging daily.

Having been around for a few years now, you can buy the more basic Drones for just a few hundred pounds, making them a lot more accessible.

This of course also means that there has been a spike in the number of drones being lost.

In the States alone, over 2,280 people have posted on Craigs List asking for help finding their lost drones!

However, it's not necessarily just the loss of the drone that's proving to be costly.

As more and more industries begin to rely on their usage to enhance their daily work, it's losing the equipment, such as cameras and weather instruments, attached to the Drone that leaves companies with a hefty price to pay when their vessel goes missing.

To further add to the turmoil that comes from a drone going off-piste, there is also the old mantra of “time is money” that rings true. And more so, 'lost time is lost money'.

“ There is no question that searching aimlessly for a missing drone absolutely will eat into your working day. It's really more of a case of how much of your day,” says Mark Petts, Managing Director of AphroditeRentals.com, who uses his Drone to capture images of the picturesque surroundings of Aphrodite Hills Golf Resort in Cyprus.

And with their ability to fly such large distances in such a short time, you will count yourself in the very lucky minority if you actually find your drone once contact is broken.

When there's a short time frame to achieve a film shot or a photograph, and in more severe uses of search and rescue missions, losing your drone (and equipment) will cost you in a big way.

Just one of many examples of how Emergency Services are capitalising on the accelerated reach of drones is evident in this article showing medical equipment being delivered to emergency scenes.

Mark Petts carries on to say, “When I lost my drone, I spent over a day looking for it, to no avail. I didn't deploy my replacement drone until I had rigorously tested and fitted a tracker to make sure I wouldn't have to go through the same frustration again.”

The tracking device he was referring to? The Chameleon

The Chameleon has been tested with several different sizes and models of Drones, and due to its size, weight and shape (the same as a USB stick), it has proven to be the best tracker for drones on the market today, in particular, the most popular model, DJI's Phantom.

Further to this, The pinpoint accuracy and sturdy battery life has given many Drone owners that reassurance needed.

It has very quickly become our most popular text trackers overall.

Due to its size and weight, The Chameleon is our most versatile tracker, becoming a master of its surroundings in whatever role it's given.

The multi-use purpose has certainly not diluted the capabilities of The Chameleon, and it is considered a master of all it's uses- almost as if it has been designed specifically for each asset that it protects.

Chameleons have been used to help protect children, cars, handbags, luggage, pets, and so, therefore, there is no better tracker to ensure Drone owners are reunited with their expensive assets.

There is a live tracker capability, and a new app coming soon, which will actually allow you to review the whole path of your Drone, and see it tracking in live time; making it even easier to find when lost.

As it stands for all of those with wrapped boxes appearing under the tree, remember; a drone is for life, not just for Xmas.

Protect yours with a Chameleon GPS tracker.
